Walsin Lihwa's board meeting approved senior management appointments

Walsin Lihwa Corporation held board meeting today (June 13th) approved Mr. Yu-Lon Chiao to continue to be chairman and CEO of the company and Mr. Yu-Cheng Chiao to continue to be vice chairman and deputy CEO. The board of Walsin Lihwa also accepted resignation of Ms. Bonnie Kao, president, and chairman Yu-Lon Chiao will act for president of the company. Moreover, the board decided July 22nd, 2008 to be the record date.

Several senior management appointments conceded by the board include¡GMr. Wen-Chung Chang, who continues to be company vice president and general manager of the Specialty Steel Business; Ms. Patricia Chiao, who continues to be company vice president and general manager of the Copper Business; and Mr. Jo-Chi Tsuo, who continues to be company vice president and general manager of the Precision Materials Business. Moreover, Mr. Steven Y. Liang, has recently joined Walsin Lihwa as vice president, chief technology officer, and chief manufacturing officer.

The board extended gratitude to Ms. Bonnie Kao for her outstanding contributions during her six-year president tenure, looking forwards to her successful future pursuit. Kao joined Walsin Lihwa in 2001 as vice president and was president from 2002 to 2008. Kao has been successful in assisting the chairman in focusing on the core business by effectively realigning the company's asset and investment structures, significantly enhancing business results and management efficiency over the past several years. Kao also became president of the Wire and Cable Business beginning in 2004, and her marketing-oriented strategy has been effective in market development in Mainland China, where a solid business foundation has been laid.

Mr. Steven Y Liang, the new vice president, chief technology officer, and chief manufacturing officer, was a professor in mechanical engineering and director of the Manufacturing Education Program at the George Institute of Technology. Liang was also chief technology officer of Shanghai Machine Tool Works, Ltd., Shanghai Electric Inc., and chair of the Advisory Committee of Shanghai Machine Tool Group. Liang is a Ph. D in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley. Because of his outstanding academic achievements, Liang was a Morris M. Bryan, Jr. Professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology, and chair of the Manufacturing Engineering Division of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and president of the North American Manufacturing Research Institute. Walsin Lihwa will benefit from Liang's mechanical engineering and management professionalism to enhance the core competence of manufacturing and technology at each business of the company.
